Talk Liverpool renews Gateway agreement Summer 2016

Merseycare’s Talk Liverpool counselling service has renewed their agreement with Liverpool Gateway Conference Centre to provide up to 6 counselling suites between May and October 2016.

This is the second set of dates Gateway has provided for Merseycare following-on from 5 years of providing a similar service for the previous contract holder – Inclusion Matters.

The Gateway Centre is seen as a neutral venue and not branded as a Merseycare service which helps service users who may feel uncomfortable about enteriong a branded Merseycare facility.

Gateway are hoping to be able to provide facilities for an expansion to this service on evenings and weekends to help meet the demand for this much-needed service.

Gateway coffee shop now open for business

coffee shop in use may 2016

Our coffee shop is now doing a roaring trade serving fantastic Illy coffees, hot chocolate, clipper teas, milkshakes, sandwiches and paninis, cakes and pastries and fresh sandwiches.

After a short construction phase which commenced in January 2016, the coffee shop and reception premises and 1st floor additional counselling suites are now in regular use. CJ Henshall’s construction of Birkdale are specialists in this type of contract where business has to continue during the sensitive construction works.

New signage and a spruce-up of the outside paintwork will fully complete the job and we look forward to welcoming new customers to enjoy our facilities.

Gateway links-up with Smartstyle Training with new ICT resources

Following a successful site visit before before Christmas, Gateway are happy to announce that Smartstyle training will be using Gateway for their Liverpool-based ICT and soft-skills programme for 2016 and beyond.

Smartstyle are a Microsoft Certified training organisation and run a wide range of courses for end users and technicians and were extremely pleased with Gateway and our central location in Liverpool.

Mandy Jones, Chief Executive, said that Gateway’s facilities, position and warm welcome along with the flexibility of our services and competitive pricing all pointed towards a long and fruitful mutual relationship.

Nigel collected the 10 new standalone pcs from Bradford with the 21″ wide screen monitors last week and these will be configured ready for courses to start at the end of January.

Gateway’s ground floor conversion commences Christmas 2015

cafe conversion day 4 (2)

We’ve finally made a start on sorting the former disused and unloved cafe space back to add to Gateway’s excellent resources as we continue to expand our services.

CW Henshall’s Joinery from Southport have started by ripping out all the old fixtures going back to Brunelli’s cafe from 2003 and all the additional fixtures from Curry in a Hurry. We’ll soon have new entrance doors, a new reception space, new training room, new storage space and 2 toilets plus our own coffee shop and seating area.

On the first floor, we’ll put in a new mezzanine floor with 3 more counselling suites so that we can expand our Talk Liverpool services.

Really excited about the project which is planned for final completion mid Feb 2016.

Andrew Collinge Training complete apprentice Basic Skills Assessments – Sept 15

ICT Suite AC4 (2)

Andrew Collinge Training completed the basic skills assessments of 105 apprentice hairdressers at Gateway this week.

Over 3 and a half days, the trainees from salons all over Merseyside and Cheshire came to Gateway to use our ICT suite and perform the online basic skills assessments.

They used our ICT workstations and robust broadband connection to put up to 15 trainees at a time through the BKSB on-line portal, to give them a benchmark of their basic skills levels at the start of their traineeship. They’ll continue to receive the relevant individual support to improve areas of their basic skills whilst continuing with their on-the-job practical learning.

We’re so glad to welcome them back to Gateway after a short absence and hope to be able to book next years’ cohorts in for September 2016 very soon.

We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Liverpool City Council to Gateway this week for the first couse of more than 50 which have been organised to take place between September 2015 and March 2016.
